The Kahunka Muscle Pizza video is meant to be a compliment to this article which provides much more detail on the subject.
If you are a workout buff like me you probably already know that the best eating pattern you can adopt is to consume five smaller meals a day.
This keeps your metabolism burning nice and steady all day long and provides for a steady flow of nutrients to your muscles which are probably rebuilding after that killer mind-blowing workout you just had.
But there's a catch to this healthy way of eating...
It isn't easy eating a variety of five quality meals every day!
That's why I love simple easy quality meals (did I mention cheap?) like the muscle pizza.
Muscle pizza scores its name because of the roughly 35 grams of muscle building protein it provides from the tuna and another 3 from the tortilla shell.
The Ingredients for the Muscle Pizza like I made in the video are:
1. One Tumaro's sun-dried tomato basil tortilla shell - You could use your favorite tortilla shell but I like this brand because it makes for a crispy thin crust and the ingredients are fairly good quality and mainly organic unbleached and whole wheat flours.
2. One whole can of tuna fillet in water (drained) - I was never a canned tuna fan until they came out with the fillet variety.
3. One medium yellow onion (diced) - Of course you could use a red or white onion if you prefer the taste.
4. Approximately 5 tablespoons of tomato sauce - For this pizza I used a seasoned spaghetti sauce for better flavor.
5. Three or four sun-dried tomatoes - I also use regular tomatoes from time to time.
6. One half of one yellow bell pepper (diced) - Red or green bell peppers could be used as well.
7. Four to five dashes of pepper
Preparation
1. Heat oven to 450 degrees
2. Dice the onion
3. Drain the tuna
4. Cut the tomatoes
5. Dice the pepper
6. Add tuna and onion into mixing bowl
7. Add pepper to season
8. Add tomato sauce
9. Mix ingredients together
10. Spread entire contents of bowl evenly over tortilla shell
11. Spread peppers evenly over top
12. Spread tomatoes evenly over top
13. Place pizza on center rack of the oven
14. Bake for about 20 minutes
Smelling the Muscle Pizza cooking is a good indication it is done.
The bulk of the calories come from the tuna and the tortilla shell and roughly look like this:
Calories - 260
Fat - 2 grams
Saturated and trans fats - 0
Carbs - 23 grams (tortilla)
Protein - 38 grams
Sugar - 1 gram
And there you have it! This mini pizza makes a great meal, is cheap, easy, and above all, delicious.
It doesn't take much imagination to see you could use this tortilla shell as a foundation for making several different variations of this pizza. I often use toppings like chicken, turkey, pineapple and bananas just to name a few.
I plan to continue adding simple easy healthy food recipes and healthy food recipes that will help you gain weight or loose it.
